They took him off life support today. We went to high school together, then it being 1967 he went into the army and I went into the Marines. We both joined the department in the 1970's and retired about the same time. He was one of the first medics. Fought more fire than most. Now he is gone. When the shit was deepest, you would look around and there stood Nick getting it done. He was one of the best. Anyway here's to you Nick, there are damn few of us left.
